Alice Glenn is a collaborator, entrepreneur and leader in the Australian community arts sector.
She is the founder and former CEO of Schoolhouse Studios, a not-for-profit organisation providing work spaces, events and professional development to more than 140 artists and creative business across two sites in Melbourne.
Alice is also the founder and the Director of the global dance organisation, No Lights No Lycra. Established by Alice in 2009, the business now operates in more than 75 communities globally.
With over a decades experience in business management, and a sustained commitment to community and cultural development, Alice is driven in her work by her beliefs in community, inclusiveness and diversity.
She is dedicated to utilising her knowledge and leadership strengths to foster collaboration and connections between artists, business and communities—from the grassroots to the global.
Steph Hughes is an illustrator, musician, & community art facilitator. Her illustration work includes diverse clients in community, editorial and commercial spaces - including Melbourne Museum, Oxfam, the ABC and TAC. Her experience as a workshop facilitator began in youth circus, teaching and developing performances in primary and secondary schools. She also worked at Australia’s first Girls’ Rock Camp in Canberra as the drumming facilitator (for ages 10-17). Merging these collaborative workshop experiences with art practice, Steph has been creating community art projects based around drawing, play and mural making for the past few years, enjoying and believing in the connection artistic expression in a group creates, and striving to break down the potentially intimidating elements of art making. Her passions for sustainability, connection, storytelling and community always make their way into her work.
Mia Mala McDonald is a multidisciplinary entrepreneur, educator and photographer. She works across a range of industries as a producer, art business manager, and educator. Her core interest is in community spaces and creative engagement.
Mia managed Magic Johnson Cultural Complex in Collingwood for five years and previously managed the Dear Patti Smith Event Space in Collingwood. She has proven experience in complex stakeholder liaising, and community project management. Mia is skilled in identifying and building networks, and long lasting partnerships, between creative groups and industry partners.
Growing up in rural Victoria instilled Mia with an appreciation for vibrant and engaged communities that respect and celebrate the individuality of the area and the residents.
